So, I have a 9-week-old Sapphire gem pullet that was attacked by a raccoon on July 8th. She had a couple of puncture wounds on her left chest and an abrasion on her left leg, which I treated with the wound protocol I found on here. She is on amoxicillin. The wounds have healed amazingly well, but she still cannot put weight on the leg on the same side. She just has the leg curled or sticking out since the attack. I gently squeezed all the leg and foot, and couldn't feel a break. She has been eating and drinking like a champ. Droppings look completely normal. We feel really lucky she is alive and doing so well.

The nearest avian vet is far from us, so I hoped to treat her leg at home. Any help with telling whether it is a slipped tendon or a sprain vs a break would be helpful if anyone can help with that information, as well as treatment, if there is any. Here is a picture below. I can get more if need be, since she is feeling better from the wounds I can handle her more. Right now she is in a dog crate with hay in it, in the house, but I plan on having her live in a division in the coop as soon as she is done with the antibiotics.

There we go. Thanks, everyone!

If you put your finger under her foot does she try to grip it with her toes? Or if you gently push some pressure on the bottom of her foot does she try to push back a little?

She could have a sprain from trying to get away. It's only been a few days so I wouldn't worry too much just yet. I had one with possibly a dislocated hip. She laid like that for a couple of weeks before starting to walk. She limped for the rest of her life but she pulled through. Did you compare her hip joints to see if one is different?

You could try a low dose aspirin for pain and inflammation.
Keep her confined so she can rest and hopefully heal.

Thanks for the ideas. My husband was just holding her a minute ago, but I will look for the things you said in a couple of hours. I think you may be right about the hip joint.

Thanks again.
