Hey folks, I have 10 beautiful girls. 5 Rhodie hens and 5 Rhodie pullets. the pullets are 9 monts old. I noticed one limping a couple of weeks ago. I looked at her foot and did not see anything. No cut or anything. The limping stopped. Now she can barely walk. Yesterday was New Years Day and I let the girls out for a while. My limping pullet just sat on the cold ground pecking while the others scratched and walked about. There is no visible signs of injury.
What can it be? Anyone have any ting like this happen? erf

Hi,

Perhaps she strained her leg???? I recommend that you seperate her from the flock under a heat lamp with food and water for some TLC. She would most likely get harassed by the other hens, which can end up with Cannibalism. So, seperate her with heat and other neccesities as well as examine her to see what the caue was.

Fresh Eggs

Maybe slipped a tendon in her leg??? Look to see if her joints are swollen or hot to the touch. Pics would help too, but still do what Fresh eggs recommended as well as give her some scrambled eggs for energy/protein and, of course, water. Hope your girl gets better quick.

well, I would send a pic, but there ar NO VISIBLE signs of any injury. She is eatting and drinking. last night I went to shut the hatch to keep out the night cold, and she was roosting with the others. This morning before work, she was down on the floor by the feeder, but still "gimping".

If you can, maybe just isolate her in a dog crate (or where ever) for a few days to see how she does then. Good luck to you and your hen.
