Prologue:
The Fae king stared defiantly up into the cold eyes of his captor. He knew that he had been defeated. There hadn't been time to assemble the great Fae army and fight back against the warlike invaders from a dying world, wielding powers to rival the Faes' own.
"So, you thought that you and your ragtag band of weaklings could win a war against the mighty Sha army?"
"We could have won a thousand times over, had you fought a fair fight!" The Fae king's voice rang out strongly, and suddenly the Sha commander was inches from his face.
"How dare you insult me! The Sha army fought very honorably!"
"I wouldn't call burning peaceful villages of the Lai, who have no part in this, to the ground in the dead of night honorable! If you really had honor you would have announced your presence in our land and allowed us time to assemble our armies, instead attacking us while we slept like the cowards you are!"
"Forget your rambling," the Sha general said dismissively, though his eyes showed the depth of rage burning inside him. Turning to his second-in-command, he issued an order in a curt voice. "Kill him and his 'soldiers' and call my chief Spell-Caster." While the Fae king and his army were being murdered in the castle walls, his captive subjects' wings crumbled into piles of ash and their immense powers were weakened. For deep in the heart of the castle the chief Spell-Caster of the Sha spoke this powerful spell:
Angels to some, demons to others,

From this day, this spell shall bind

Until morals be found among the Fae.

Backstory:
The Fae peacefully ruled over the Lai in the land of Elirath for many years, when a portal from a dying world opened up, unbeknownst to the Fae, through which a warlike race called the Sha entered. Taking the peaceful Fae off guard, the Sha overthrew them and cast a spell over them that removed their wings and greatly weakened their powers for 1000 years, then made them their slaves. Now, 1000 years later, ancient powers are resurfacing in the young Fae slaves, and unrest is brewing. Will you bow your head under the iron fist of the Sha? Or will you rise up against the tyrants sitting on your rightful throne?!
Characters:
The Fae:
The Fae are short, about 4' to 4'6" (they can be a few inches taller if you want your character to stand out, but keep them at or under 4'10"). They have extremely tan skin, brown hair, and brown or green eyes. Also, feel free to experiment with your character. They don't have to look exactly like this description (same goes for the Sha). New powers include EXTREMELY strong telekinesis, wings coming in (painful!), and they can control different aspects of nature (ex. one person might be able to control wind, or grow vines really fast, but be reasonable).
The Sha:
The Sha are tall, about 6'6" to 7' (once again, they can be up to four inches taller). They are very pale, with blond (preferably light) hair and ice-blue eyes. They are the rulers of Erirath, and they usually act it (feel free to explore your evil side!). Their powers are VERY strong telekinesis, and they are masters of wielding ice swords. they can also control water to a certain extent.
The Lai:
The Lai are mostly average, 5'6" to 6' tall. They are the Sha's subjects. They can look pretty much however you like. They usually wear bright colors (there are exceptions). Occasionally there'll be a Lai born with powers of weak hypnosis, but mainly they are unmagical. Don't let this dicourage you, though, as they can be amazing with the sword, bow and arrows, oldfashioned weapon of your choice, or some other special skill. It is not uncommon for Lai to own Fae slaves.
Random Terms:
House Fae: Fae slaves that work indoors
Field Fae: Fae slaves that work outdoors
Crown Fae: Fae slaves that work in the Sha palace. Mainly descendants of the original Fae king and queen.
Spell-Caster: Sha magician that can cast powerful spells (there might be room for one in the story..)
The Day of Rejoicing: Anniversary of the day the Sha won the land of Elirath. A day of celebrating and rejoicing for the Sha and the Lai (who use it as an excuse to have a day free of work, not because they're happy that they're ruled by tyrants) and a day of hard work and misery for the Fae. The 1000th anniversary is coming up...
Also, Fae must refer to all Sha as "My Lady/Lord" and the Sha King and Queen as "My King/Queen," and refer to the Lai as "Ma'am, Miss, or Sir".
