Landscape for peafowl?

There is a wonderful bamboo garden near me and it is so pretty! You can see mature examples of all the clumping bamboo. Some of them are taller than most trees and really big around and some are thinner and not as tall. The shoots mine are sending out this year are taller than the pen but they just grow through the holes in the netting with no problem. Just make sure you the bamboo is clumping. The owner of the bamboo place told us a secret, clumping bamboo will be totally round when you feel around the stalk, but the running bamboo will have a flat side. I personally think it is kind of hard to tell by that method, but he is pretty smart when it comes to bamboo. It grows pretty well especially when you put bird poop around it with some leaves. Good luck plant shopping. I love looking for new plants, just don't let those pretty tropical house plants win you over. Most of the time when it says it doesn't grow in your zone it just doesn't. I am a tropical lover but I just can't get all those pretty tropicals outside.

Here is the bamboo garden website, it is called Boo For You:

They used to have lots of peafowl but lose neighborhood dogs killed a lot of them so they had to be re-located and now live free-range at a peafowl breeder's place. Now the garden has one peacock that was to sly to be caught and some guineas and a family of gamefowl. They have huge greenhouses not pictured on the website with the most exotic plants ever! It is just an all around amazing place to visit and it looks so tropical it is hard to believe I could do something like that here.
