How would you tell the difference and at what age? I received 2 black feather footed chicks from McMurray Hatchery as part of a Rare Breed Special (pics tomorrow its too dark now). They are 2 months old and I'm still not sure what I have.

If you can't tell the difference then it is a cochin. My Langshans have such long legs it is impossible to mistake them for anything else

Besides the difference in leg length, Langshans have a lot less feathering on their leg and have a very "upright" tail. Cochins have tons of leg feathering and their tail is angled straight down towards the ground

Too right. Mine have the distinctive U shape also

I agree with the others, you'll be able to tell pretty easily by bodyshape and feathering, even early on. Does your chick have ridiculous amounts of feathers on it's legs? If so, that's a cochin. If it's legs are ridiculously long, and only mildly feathered, then it's a Langshan.

Is your chick a little fluffball where you wonder if there is a bird in there somewhere? If so, Cochin. Does it look like it's trying to fly a pirate flag with it's tail? Langshan.

Also, post pics! There's some pretty good guesses here in this forum!
