Hello all,
I’m wondering if it’s possible that larder beetles laid their eggs in the vent area of an unwell chicken (vent gleet), instead of flies? The “maggots” I saw on my poor gal did not look like any fly larvae I’ve ever seen - not white at all and wayyyyy smaller. But - I realized yesterday that I do have a larder beetle problem in my coop that needs to be addressed big time.

Unfortunately I had to have my dear little Maude euthanized today…going downhill for a while; this horrid affair was the final blow. Lucky to have a great vet in town who treats chickens with compassion and respect, as the pets they are. ❤️❤️
