Look very closely for a wound.
Was there poop stuck to her butt feathers, is that where the maggots were?
Or was her butt 'clean' and the maggots were in the poop(thinking maybe round worms)?
Did you take pic of it/them? That's always a good idea.
Is the bulge hard, or squishy like a water balloon?
NO but I'm lead to believe there was something blocking her from pooping. I made the mistake of giving them long grass that I would pick and throw in there because of out dogs.Just keep a close eye on things back there.
Maybe compare her belly swelling to other birds.
I see you had another bird die this week.

Did you do a necropsy on that bird?
Are you certain the poop had maggots in it, or were they possibly tapeworm heads? Could you post any pictures of another dropping like that, and of the vent? Tapeworm segments can be flat and may be seen moving. If it was maggots, there could be poop that has collected around the vent, or a wound or prolapse where maggots have gotten into it. Tapeworms would require a specific dewormer containing praziquantel.
I have had a few hens with the enlarged lower belly between the legs. It is good that she is laying eggs, since sometimes that can be a sign of internal laying or ascites. I would keep an eye on it. A couple of my hens looked that way for a couple of years.[/QUOTEI
I wormed her with wazine 17 and hasn't had anymore poops with moving things in them but around their yard a lot do seem to be brown and not usual from. She hasn't laid an egg today yet should I be worried?
