I've noticed in the BST for hatching eggs that usually more than TWO THIRDS (2/3) of the hatching eggs offered are Bantam.

So what do you have?

And then tell us why?

Large fowl and bantams. Large because they're cuddly, bantams because they're cute. My mom thinks we have them for eggs but I know the truth!

I have standards just because I like big fluffy chickens. I think they are are hardier. But my kids love bantam polish. They love to carry them around. I guess they like them because they are little and cute.

I have large fowl. I use my extra cockerels for meat and my eggs as kitchen eggs... so while I love pretty birds, on the farm everything has to be maximally useful.

I got my first bantams this year. I got them because I wanted something to set on eggs. That is the only reason. They are kind of cute, but I have always preferred the standards. They seem more useful.

I think the standards are better for meat, but WHOLY MOLY can my banties lay. Powerhouses.
