Is this a deformity or something that happend while he was hatching? The other babies kept pecking at him as he was hatching, could they have broken a blood vessel? Sorry, too many questions. What do you think guys?

If you did include a photo it's not showing for me, but some don't anyway. My two cents, without having seen it: if it's just water, I've heard it's caused by a B vitamin insufficiency; riboflavin particularly I think, not sure; also linked to excess water in the eggs. Dietary in other words.

Is the lump on the side of the front of the birds neck? Is it always there or do you only see it sometimes?
Without a picture I'm inclined to think you caught your chick after eating a bunch of food with a full crop. Or possibly a sour crop problem.
A picture would help.
Cheers,
Jessie

The lump is on the right side of the neck and the neck itself is bent sharply to the left. This is the second one like this, the first hatched out yesterday and seems to be resolving, but the second has a sharper bend to its neck and it has trouble navigating around. I have had 16 hatch so far and all the others are fine?? I tried putting a picture in here but I evidently don't know how. I'll keep trying.

What happened, I have same problem, did you find a solution?

They haven't been on here in 10 years, so you'll likely not hear back from them. I would go ahead and post here in the Quail Forum and you will probably get some good help there!

I have quail and haven't quite experienced this problem. I don't know if it could be wryneck (I would try to give some vit. E, Selenium, and B complex for it) but there are some great quail people here that are very experienced, so I would give starting a new post a try for the best help.

Wry neck? Sometimes you’ll get a humpy looking chick, s shaped curve, upside down (seeming) head, sometimes can’t stand or walk or tip over a lot. Can be nutrition, genetic, position in shell, or just random. Here’s one example:
