Large mass on Chickens head

Hi. I was away on vacation for 10 days and came home to this large mass on my Cochins head. It is hard and easy to move... like a ball under the skin. It is warm... but not hot. She seems to be eating and drinking fine. I can't find an injury but part of the skin in black. I asked in a nother group and some said probably infection and to begin Tylan 50 injections. My children are diabetics and I have 38 gauge needles here but they are very short... will this work for Tylan?
