So I have approx 90 chickens. Half the flock (mostly the Ameraucanas and mix breeds) are showing signs of scaly leg mites.

I am obviously going to treat my whole flock, but what is the best way on such a large scale? Petroleum Jelly would take way to long to thoroughly apply. I was thinking of Pam cooking spray?

Do you think Carbaryl applied on the legs would work? What about Ivermectin - if I use the minimum dose, can we still eat the eggs?

I need practical suggestions! Thank you!

I should probably add that they have lice again after an owl going IN TO THE COOP and killing chickens every 6 days or so. I treated them last time with Carbaryl.. now I'm just using DE, but it doesn't seem to be as effective, it just keeps the infestation at bay..

Idk if Pam would be thick enough to work.... The propellant in the aerosol, tends to make Pam become foamy when you spray it for more than a second or two....
If you want to use a spray-on, maybe look into getting a sprayer like this :

And use it to apply either parrafin oil or mineral oil.... you’ll still get the speed and ease of spraying them, and you’ll be able to use an oil that will work.

I’ve also heard of people filling a container/bucket/cylinder with oil and dunking the birds legs.

Good luck.
