One of my hens was acting poorly(listless not eating much etc). I noticed her butt was poopy so I bathed her . What i found was a small egg shaped object that is attached by a strand of tissue inside her vent. This is a first for me.. It could be a lash egg but I don't know whether I should try to remove it. I separated her and we are prepared to cull her if necessary. Also her crop is swollen and squishy. That I have dealt with before and it didn't end well. Any ideas whats's going on?

Are you sure it is not a prolapse?

Either way, lash egg or prolapse, the overall outlook isn't good for the hen as it means internal infection and reproductive problems.

It is possible the sour crop and lash egg are from the same infection, which may be yeast related.

I'll link a couple of articles below that may help you sort things out.

Good luck with her.
