I have a gold laced polish rooster who is ~8 months old now and just started crowing and mounting a few days ago(maybe a week). Well I was in the pen a few minutes ago and he chased my oldest hen a good few laps and was biting her head extremely hard and twisting like he was trying to hurt her. I've never seen a rooster behave like that. So my question is, is he just frustrated being so late and hormonal or is he just not a good one? I need to thin my roosters anyway but he was one of the top picks

I’d separate him and see if he calms down after a while. Young roosters don’t know what to do when mating.

My other young ones aren't that... aggressive? I don't have anywhere to separate him to, I think the best option is to rehome him. Anyone in east TN looking for a roo???

I’m sorry to hear that, I just know most young roosters are terrible at mating hens. There is a section called Animals in Need of Free Rehoming on here. Try posting on that and mention he was your top pick.
