Hello! So I have 6 coturnix quail eggs. and They're several days late and I've candled and I was giving them a lot of hope. All but one haven't moved or pipped so I surely assume they're dead, or undeveloped. The candleing of the egg is a little too dark to be certain. So I didn't float test one of them because there was a chip, which is where I think the bird pipped. But I havent checked in a while, and I think this pip has been there for about a day. I think the chick may be dead but im not certain. If it is alive, is it most beneficial to the chick to unzip the egg?

They've been in the incubator 24 for days. They're supposed to hatch around day 18 in the incubator. And I am CERTAIN i've done something wrong. But for now, im not worried about that, and wondering if i should open the egg.

I have button quail (very new to them) and she has laid 2 clutches of eggs. The first she was so/so sitting on them but I left them in there and after I thought there was no chance I removed them and float tested them. I couldn't see thru them when I candeled. I also cracked a few and some looked like they tried but never fully developed. I had planned on putting this new clutch in the incubator but she is sitting on them a lot! Yay! I can't put them in the incubator now because I have my chicken eggs coming, wish me luck on that! I know incubators are touchy from what I read, where did you get the eggs?

It's dead for sure and the blood was filled in the egg. I shipped them and it was fully developed so it must have been something at the end. I do wish you luck on yours! I'm super excited for you.

So I assume it wanted to hatch even though it didn't absorb it's sad little rotten yolk.
