My Coop
i had four hatch so far

3 that i saw movement candling. 2 remains that had movement earlier on candling. i had two maybes i candled later one i changed to a yes (it hatched) in my notes and one that i was sure made no additional progress (doubtful)

so in my notes i have 2 of 5 left that i think are bad of the three that remain one i dont know and 2 i was sure are good. Nothing has pipped outside of shell (no cracks) as of 9 pm last night it was 22 full days.

Do you think the two that i saw moving 5 days ago still have a chance being 22 1/2 days into incubation?

or should i cull the rest

what is the magic timeframe that i should give up on them

all my hatch including this morning an hour ago seam very healthy and were walking around in minutes

Congrats on your hatch! I've had a chick hatch on day 25, so I'd say wait a bit longer...

under a unreliable hen i had a bad batch pop one at a time, not sure if she pecked them or sitting on them made them pop. is there any chance they are bad and will pop making the incubator gross?

Maybe you should smell the eggs. I can sometimes "sniff" out a bad egg. Also you can float them in warmish water. I haven't tried this method myself, but I hear if there's a live chick in it, the egg will wiggle in the water.

ha ha my son was watching the last chick to see if it was fluffed out and dry yet and he went away for 30 minutes with no pipped eggs and came back and one hatched in 30 minutes from poke out to hatch.

unfortunatly it seams to be bleeding a little on the incubator floor so i got an extra one out but its got issues.

ironically i picked up one that i have written down as good to see from below if it had any cracks and i dropped it. it landed on one that i knew was bad from candling a week ago and yes it busted the bad egg in the incubator and got the chics wet. i cleaned it up fast and kept the egg that survived the crash i figure it may have had a solid object inside protecting it.

i candled them all and found a few with liquid inside and confirmed them bad

i have three possible eggs left well give them a chance

After all that you deserve 3 more chicks! There's is nothing quite like the smell of a busted bad egg

And in you incubator! You have my sympathy!

thanks

top it off the weaker chic was not moving and i thought it lost strength and was dying

my wife was like it looks like the left over yolk glued it to the floor

i was like no way
she was like way
i was like dude
she was like dude

so i tried to pick her up
confirmed

i loosened her with a wet sponge and took out the sponge since humidity was high without it

12 hours later shes walking around (still a little wobbly but much stronger)
she is in the brooder with her 4 buddies now
they are getting personalities , a little pecking order activites already
i will stand up the brooder live webcam stream soon and link it for 22 days (putting new eggs tommorrow)
then i will move the webcam to the eggs for live webcast of the hatch

ill keep you all posted
