I have a broody hen, She has been on 6 eggs for 23 days. One of the eggs hatched on day 22 and I have a healthy frizzled bantam baby. One of the other eggs has been peeping for about 24 hours but has not pipped yet. How long after the chicks begin peeping do they normally pip?
She got scared off of her nest for several hours on day 17, and I’m actually surprised that any of them are viable. Could this be causing the late hatching?
Anything I can do to help the late peeper? Also how long would you let the other eggs sit until discarding them?
