Late hatching poult not eating!

I have a new poult, hatched about 5 days after it should have, that will not eat. I have given it a little sugar water to help keep it hydrated, but cannot get it to eat at all. Can I not make a gruel with some starter ground real fine and some water and use a syringe to drop it in its mouth?
Please advise.

It hatched last Thursday afternoon.

Try making it a wet mash...my DH had to hand feed our first turkey poult bc he wouldn't eat. I hope he gets the hang of it soon!

The poult didn't make it. It had passed during the night last night.

That is what tends to happen to the late hatcher. They just don't have enough strength to make it thru.
