Lavender Ameraucana or EE

Picked up a cockerel today.
Cheeky bugger with big ol beard. Rose comb (I think) slate legs/feet
Picked him up as owners hatched too many cockerels and couldn’t see culling a true ameracauna. Said they bought from breeder in S. Oregon area.

So. How does one tell if it’s EE or Ameracauna? Other than breed, hatch and see if my brown layers cross to olive.

Post pics of the bird. Lavender is not APA recognized in ameraucanas.

Actually lavender or self blue is recognized now. It was approved in March. To be breed standard they also have to have slate colored legs and pea combs.

He's got a rose comb, you've got your answer.

No need to apologize. Fairly new occurence. Many breeders worked hard to get the color approved. It is a very popular color (everything lavender is...). Hard to find them still.

If it has a rose comb it isn’t an ameraucana. Ameraucanas have pea combs.
