Hello, can someone help a newbie out here? I have a lavender olive egger rooster and would like to know what breeds would cross back to him with good results and I also have a Isbar rooster and looking to cross him back to cream crested legbars to get ice cream bars but i read on a thread that cream creasted legbars need a lot of work and if anyone already asked these ??? post link so I can read further on this looking to get some colorful eggs going this year. I actually have 2 olive egger roosters (1 pea 1 straight comb) 1 olive egger hen and 1 isbar rooster they all are 4 months old now. Looking to buy chicks to breed to what I have soon as i find out what would be best crosses I will post pic tomorrow THANKS

If you’re crossing them, why would it matter if Legbars need a lot of work?
hello thanks for responding it's something that I read and didn't know if it's good or bad to use a breed that need a lot of work so it doesn't matter if i'm crossing them I should be ok is what you are saying and thanks a lot for taking time to respond

Yeah, it shouldn’t matter. The “work” needed to be done is breeding them to a certain Standard, they still should work reliably for crosses.

Here are some pictures of them

Any idea what way I should cross lavender olive egger? What color egg will I get if I cross back to the black copper maran? I will take my isbar to legbar hens and can't wait to see how the color of the eggs turns out. I will be hatching my eggs from the OppsDecor Egg Incubator off amazon. Help me with these crosses guys and i will for sure keep this thread updated once i get idea of of whats needed thanks

Hope this helps.

BTW The one on the right in the first pick looks like a lav Ameracauna just like mine. He should pass along (dominant) blue egg genes.

Marans lay dark brown eggs. Americaunas lay blue eggs. If you cross those it’s represented in the top right corner of the egg color chart above. You would get olive eggs. If you cross 2 olive eggers you’ll get a surprise basically.
