Hi everyone
I have 2 lavender orpington chicks about 2ish weeks old. Now I know it is extremely difficult to know for sure what sex they are right now but....would any of you want to venture a guess?? I picked them out of a straight run. I never have ver good luck with straight runs but I couldn't resist. I'll be so bummed if one is a roo. I cant have roos in town.
The one on top is feathering out faster, has wing and tail feathers and is noticeably larger. Also a little darker in color
Here is a comparison of the 2.
Thank you in advance!!

How are your chicks doing? Have you successfully figured out if they're girls or boys? Or one of both? (I'd guess the first as a boy by the comb and the second as a girl, but my boys almost always feathered out slower than my girls so I could be way off, but I'm curious if I was anywhere close to right!) :)

Hi!
They are getting big and beautiful! And still confused as to what they are...🤔
Still a considerable size difference and no noticable comb change. Their feathers must be poor breeding because they are not shiny like my other older girls, they almost look dingy or oily looking but not actually oily...if that makes sense.

They are really cute. I'm bad at guessing the sex but I would say right now they both look like pullets.
I remember reading something somewhere about lavender genetics and a problem with feather breakage or splitting. I think there was a term for it. You could probably get a quick answer if you asked on the genetics forum.

I really hope they are pullets! Or I hope at least one is. I'll be crushed if they are both roos.
I was wondering if there might be something different with the feathers. They are split at the edges if that makes sense. They are still beautiful but just look a little ragged. I might have to ask in that other forum.
