Hi! This is a 5 day old lavender Orpington chick. Is the presence of this tiny comb indication that it’s a rooster?

Nope all chickens are hatched with combs like that, won’t be able to tell what this one is for several weeks yet

Different breeds may have different comb types, such as Easter Eggers/EE's have small pea combs which pretty much look like nothing until they're a few months old! Same with some rose comb breeds like Wyandottes : D

Oh good to know! They’re mostly all Lavender Orps, but a couple are buff Chochins and then just one cream legbar who’s for sure a girl.

It means the chick is barred, could you get more pictures, especially of emerging feathers!
