I've had several other kinds of Orpingtons - Silver Laced, Red Partridge, Lemon Cuckoo, and Lavender - and they have all laid large eggs. Comparable to or even larger than store bought eggs. I had a couple of Buffs briefly but I traded them for other chickens before they started laying, so I didn't get to see their eggs. Usually when people talk about "Orpingtons", they have Buffs in mind because they are the most popular, but there are a lot of other varieties out there and they seem to vary in other ways besides color as well (plus there's a significant difference between hatchery vs. breeder and even between different lines from different breeders).I read that orpingtons lay small eggs.
