Lavender Projects- Color Quality or Body Shape?

I have always thought that Lavender projects were for improving the feather color. Although, this didn't really make much sense to me. Is it more about fitting the body texture of the breed? Please explain this to me, as I want the true definition of a lavender project. Does it vary from breed?

We along with other breeders, work to improve feather quality, color, and type while working toward the standard for the breed.

Ours are nice and dark but we are going more for the English orpington look. The big fluffy body and all. We are very close to satisfied. We keep crossing over sq black orpingtons. It still keeps the great color and helps the body type. As far as feather quality-it improves everytime we cross.then we cull...we now have lavender orpingtons that are actually looking like orps.
