laws in Jeffersonville, IN

Does anyone have any information about laws restricting backyard chickens in jeffersonville, Indiana. I'm moving there soon and will have a nice big backyard and I want to raise chickens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Supposedly, the law is they have to be maintained in a coop more than 50 feet away from your residential dwelling and you can not have roosters or anything that makes "excessive noise" ie> guineas. I followed the rules, and I was told I had to get rid of mine after 6 months and a neighbor who thought she was a bit better than everyone. I have tried to call animal control to get verification that a new law was enacted that allows up to 5 in your backyard so long as no roosters are there, but I couldn't get anyone to return my call the three times I called. Ok so today was the first day of school and my neighbor called to supposedly give me a heads up. She was like there was 2 ladies on her deck checking out my backyard .So i go to door and answer their questions told them I had to get my son to school .And to also wait a minute so I could check my gate to see if it was locked or unlocked .Next thing you know animal control just walked back without me letting them in .First of all we are covered by the grandfather clause and these ladies told me I couldn't have a rooster I told them I know for a fact that I can because my neighbor had chickens and a rooster before they moved .She found out u can own 1 rooster .Ive lived here for41 years and I'm on a fixed income and myfeathered babies dont bother anyone. The complaint was about the noise and smell they told me they will be back in 1 week and I have to be down to 7 birds
I also tried to explain they are my therapy and these people have no heart or care .There has never been a issue about smell or noise before until the new neighbors moved in. Heck they told me they didnt have an issue with it and because they are having relationship issues the woman wants to make me and my husband and children plus my mother who is 69 and with it make our lives hell .How do you pick and choose when they look at me and my husband as mom and dad .We are constantly cleaning our coop putting cedar pellets down if water gets in and lime and demiscous earth down to keep it from having bad odors or smells .I wish we never became city cause atleast if we was still county wouldnt have this crap. Did some research on what the last vote was in 2017 and the people that was negative about it all of course lost. Heck my neighbor put up cameras and one is looking right into my backyard can u say invasion of privacy they are carrying guns on their waist at all times not my fault the woman nextdoor is parinoid at every little thing hell she never called me back after I dealt with these people .My husband overheard her and her mother talking and the mother asked if she has talked to me. I wish I had the financial needs to move to the Damn country My family is watching me break down and being an emotional wreck I feel like I have let my children husband and mother and most definately my feathered babies down. I dunno what more I could do. Sorry for venting everyone but I just need some advice on how I should deal with this mess I feel like I'm gonna shut down and go back into depression. I've came a long way since last summer everyone loves watching me light up when talking about my feathered babies and they enjoy watching me interact with them now what kind of purpose do I live for if my family has to be torn apart .I will keep everyone updated on what goes on cause in gonna fight for my right to keep my feathered family together .Until next time guys .
