Hello all....I'm in the beginning process of purchasing chickens. Does anyone know the limit of chickens I can purchase legally and if I'm allowed to purchase a rooster? I'm in the city limits Thank you.

First you need to know what your property is zoned for. This is most important in terms of finding out if it's even legal to have chickens on a property with your particular zoning. Just because someone in your neighborhood has chickens, does not mean that you will be allowed to have chickens. For instance, according to my county, I'm zoned Rural Residential. My next door neighbor is zoned Residential 3. I can have chickens, my neighbor can not. Then find out what that zoning allows according to your county laws. Then ask city hall about specific poultry ordinances.
