Hello there. I would like to try and hatch my first egg. I took an egg from the coop today. Could someone please tell me what I should do from start to finish. After reading numerous posts, I find myself confused. I have six hens and one rooster. I'm ready to be a dad!!!...lol....

Thanks in advance,

Terry

Yes, you need some type of incubator. Do a search, there are some easy ones you can build.

You can type in the search bar storing hatching eggs and will come up with ways and times of storage! I found loads of helpful advice there!

Well, you may want to try with more than one egg... in case it doesn't develop.
Store the egg(s) pointy-end-down in a cool (but not cold - around 50*) place. Tilt stored eggs side to side a couple times a day until you're ready to put them in an incubator.

The first thing to do when you want to hatch eggs is to READ READ READ! all you can on hatching and broody hens and incubators etc. Make sure you have your eggs stored properly first and then a broody hen or incubator before you even attempt. Oh you might also want to break open a test egg (it can be eaten after) to check for fertility. There's step by step information already here if you just look for it.
Lol you can also try incubating it under your armpit....

When you get your bator update us and let us know what you are planning to hatch. Look forward to hearing. It's a good bit to learn, but there's plenty of nice people on here and plenty of information to search for whatever you want to know. We'll all help all we can. I'm not very experienced but I've learned from some of the more experienced people.
