Are crumbles for chickens of all ages or just for chickens that are 18 weeks and older? My husband bought some yesterday for our chickens and told me that the chicks could have them...they are about 10 weeks. I want to be sure who to give these to before putting it in the coop/run.

Layena is a feed that has calcium in it for egg layers. Crumbles just is how the feed is cut up. Some will be mash, some crumbles, some pellets etc. Layena is for laying hens because too much calcium for younger chickens is bad for them. Give them a starter formula or a grower formula instead of a layer (layena) type.

Thanks for the heads up. We have them on a grower formula and give our hens oyster shells to help their eggs. I will be sure to keep it out of their reach for several more weeks. Thanks again!!!
