Help me out here...please....

My birds seem to waste their layer crumbles. It seems that it is strewn from one end to the other. My birds are close to laying. Will other feed work like scratch or should I still stick with layer?

thanks

One if your feeder is on the ground they will scratch in it and waste it. I would do a hanger feeder and have it up just high enough so that they can not get there feet in it. If you have roos you can mix cracked corn and the layer crumbles.

My feeder is hung high enough that they just peck at it - I have no waste at all. Get the feeder off the floor and you'll have less waste.

I have my feeder on a cinder block. I have a five gallon bucket with 1 1/2 inch holes drilled all the way round and a top. It is inside a large flat plastic pan that is actually for dumping seafood such as crab into on the table for family style eating. I use crumbles and have almost now waste. You can see the feeder on this web site. I was a copy cat!

Good luck!
