will layer feed with its added calcium cause the eggshells be too hard for baby to break out of? I have only had hens but have now added a rooster (babys!). What kind of feed do you guys recommend? Currently feeding Dumor layer pellets.

keep the hens on the layer feed, the chicks will have no problem breaking through.
