Got our first egg today :weee It was soft shelled and broken (she laid it from the roost and it dropped to the poopboard). The inside appeared normal. I have read that this is common for young pullets so not too worried. There is oyster shell available but they are still all on grower feed. Even though only 1 is laying, should I mix in the layer food with the remainer of grower now, or wait until they are all laying? I don't think the others are far behind, getting red combs/wattles. They (6 pullets) are almost 18 weeks.

I move mine to layer feed even earlier. I don't think it's a very big deal. I would mix it and finish using it, but move to layer. Maybe others will have other opinions?
