Hi.
This is my first time raising chickens, and I was wondering if it is OK to continue giving layer feed even during the egg off-season, when they're not laying, or if I should switch back to broiler feed until they start laying again.

everyone feeds what they think is right but i must say that todays feeds especially "layer feeds" are the worst thing on the market- there might be a company that makes a good one -if so the "fat" &protein will be higher w/meat/fish meal -look for this in any good feed , if one can find a breeder feed it would/should be better . If not i would use chick starter/grower with crushed oyster shells .
I won't stir the water with the whole grains menus

I'm using soy-free organic feeds from Countryside Natural Products, and they seem to be good quality.
So what is recommended? Should I stop with layer feed in the off-season?
