Layer pellets or crumble

The short time I've been raising chickens I've found that they really don't like the layer pellets and will eat crumble sometimes. I have also found that if your feeding in a tray if you fill it with layer pellets then ad water so it comes out as a soft mush they will absolutely tear it up...they love it....just an experience I had and wanted to share...
 
My chickens don't like pellets - they will eat them at the end of the day if there is nothing else available - sometimes they won't eat them until the next day. I tried making a warm mash and they don't like that either. Crumbles or nothing, I guess.
Oh, they will eat leftover oatmeal...
 
I was in desperate need of feed and the only chicken feed my local store sold was pellets.
My chickens literally starved themselves for three days until I could get to a place that sold crumbles. It's ridiculous how picky they are!! I should've thought to make a mush
 
Weird lol my chickens HATE the crumbles, they will eat them if there is nothing else but want their pellets haha. I never said my chickens were normal! The only thing to watch with the water/feed mix is don't let it sit there, it can get moldy. make sure to clean up what they don't eat and wash the tray.
