Laying box

Can i get some tips on getting the chicken to actually lay their eggs in the laying box. I find them on the floor of the coop and in the garden usually. The box has wood shavings and two false eggs in it.

Fake eggs which you already have. Is the nest box too high? Put the chickens in them so they see the fake eggs?

I wish I knew the answer! Mine have 4 very nice nest boxes- they used them all before I moved them to a new pen, and I matched the conditions. But noooooo, now we all wanna lay under the boxes............ in one particular spot.

Thanks, I will persist. The perch is a the same height as the box and they have no trouble getting to that. I've only had the chooks for 10 days so all new to me. They've already had a wing clipped and enjoy hours exploring the backyard.
