Laying habits

Hey everyone,
Are your chickens inconsistent in thier laying habits? I have 20 laying hens and I get anywhere from 5-12 eggs a day and lately it's been more like 5. There were a couple of hot days and I factored that in. The girls are about 2 1/2 now, but very healthy. My husband changed thier feed last week, can that have something to do with it?

Heat and the change in feed can contribute to inconsistency.

I have 4 hens. 2 are egg laying machines. My EE is extremely erratic. Lays for a week or two, then nothing for months.

More likely it's because your hens are 2 1/2 yo. That's about the time the start slowing down. I have a 4+ yo and she still lays, maybe 2+ eggs per week.
