One of my chickens hasn't left the nesting box for three days. She "hisses" and raises all her feathers when you try to get close to her. Any thoughts on what's going on?

Congrats on your first post.

Sounds like you have a broody hen on your hands.

Try using the search bar above and type in "broody hen" to get more information. In summary, your options are:
1) Get some fertilized eggs for her to sit on and hatch
2) get some day-old chicks to put under her and make her think she hatched them, or
3) break her of being broody so she and the rest of the girls can back to laying on a regular basis.

She gone broody. She either sitting on eggs or she just got the urge to go broody. Basically she determined to stay in there till eggs hatch. If you dont have a rooster to fertilize eggs or any egg to put under her then you need to break her of it. You can put her in a wire bottom cage away from the nest she choose until she wont go back to said nest when you let her out might take a few days.
