Laying on ground

My year old Cookoo Maran has been laying, almost daily, in a nest box (2 boxes for four hens). Today she laid her egg on the floor of the run attached to the coop. Why would she do this?

It could have been that it got stuck to her butt feathers, and it dropped off in the run, unless you actually saw her lay the egg.

My ee lays hers in the run sometimes... I haven't been able to stop her :/

Occasionally one or two of mine just sit on the ground and lay. It's the strangest thing but they seem healthy. The nest boxes were empty a few times and it's always a different hen, sometimes from a different run. I just accept it as my birds are strange.
