What kind of chicks do you have? I think it really depends on the breed. I had Iowa Blues hatched in September and they started right on time in early February. That's a breed developed in Iowa, so the winter didn't seem to inhibit them much. I am curious to find out if they keep laying through winter now. My Welsummers and Ameraucanas stopped laying over the winter though.
