I've got a peking bantam, who is very crafty and cheeky. The other day she escaped out of the area they roam in and we had a right job trying to get her in! Anyway, when we eventually did, I told her off and popped her in the upstairs of the coop, in the sleeping quarters coop or "chicken prison" as I liked to call it! As soon as I put her up their she immediately went to lay rather than going back downstairs...and then today when she tried getting flighty on my gate I clipped her wings back some more and returned her to chicken prison, and..hey presto, she went and laid again! It is normally quite hard work getting my hens to lay so this is quite a turn up for the books. I just wondered if there's any reason she would want to lay after being stressed? If anything I would have thought they would want to be relaxed while laying... any answers?? I've been trying so hard to create the best environment for them and it seems to be going against me as they're getting very lazy!!
