Well... here it is... lockdown. I have 4 marans left and all 8 sebrights. Few early deaths but mostly clear eggs. Sounds funny but I'm kinda glad that the marans I bought had alot of clear ones too... at least I'm not alone with this - leads me to lean towards more towards the colder winter than we all were used to.
I'll be taking pictures later but I took the turner out, filed up the second water tray and topped off the first one. I put the eggs in the bottom of a egg carton and took a piece of the top to place under it so that it was tilted slightly. I do this so the babies have a bit of help from gravity to get out.
Some lay the eggs flat. I don't simply because they have been upright for 21 days now... I'm not going to change that now. That is just me, though. Some will tell you that laying them out flat will help them hatch, while others tell you they roll into one another and the chicks that had hatched already bump into them too much. It really comes down to preference. Do what you are comfortable with... but keep in mind... babies legs and feet are very fragile. Try your best to keep the area inside free from pointy sharp places or tight spots they can get stuck in. There is nothing harder to fix than a day old... they are just so tiny.
Well, I'll post pictures tommarrow. Got to to go bed... work at 5am!!!
