Leasing Land in Illinois

Hello! I live in Northern Illinois and I want to buy some land with acreage and lease it. That way we can have our little farmette, but also bring in a profit. I'm not trying to make a career out of it but maybe it would help with having extra cash?
I honestly know nothing about it though. I grew up in a subdivision.

What are the pros and cons?
What kind of money can you expect?
I imagine it'd be easier to buy land that is already being used for farming?
What are good resources? I'm not googling the right things.

Hopefully some homesteaders will come along and point out resources for you. Good luck, but be sure to keep your day job while establishing your farmette.

Yes, probably.
I'd talk to a local agricultural dept....or extension office.
Maybe even a realtor that deals in farmland.
Here I would start with the county conservation group.

I have a friend with land in Michigan.
Weed went legal and the big$ offers started coming in.

Hold out for a deal.

Haven't looked up the Illinois growing laws, it's worth looking into.

The difference between $ and $$$$$.
