Leaving a rooster alone

Have a unique problem, haven't posted in quite a while since all has been happy in my little flock. Until now. Inadvertantly got a rooster in my last batch of "hens" - the lady who sold them to me said she would take back if there were any roosters (Wyandotte, she swore they were sexed). She can't pick him up for a week or two. I'm leaving for five days and a neighbor will take care of them, they all free range but when I'm gone they are kept in the hen house. I am concerned about leaving the rooster in there with them (8 of them, many are older), he is very large and intimidating and I'm worried they would just freak out having him in there with them for that long. So, thinking leave the rooster out the five days I'm gone, she can feed him outside, but this way he's separated from the hens.

So, my online experts - thoughts?

I left my one out for 2 weeks and he was fine. He had access to shelter if needed along with food and water. But I really don't have any predators around "knocks on wood". Where has he been staying?
