So a couple weeks ago one of my brahma hens injured herself coming off the perch. I've since removed the perch, too high. She just lays there with one leg extended behind her. We thought it may have been bumblefoot at first since the side of her foot was swollen so we drained that spot, her leg was hot there too, disinfected it, and its healed up. Her foot and leg are no longer hot. We also did Epsom salt soaks too.

It's been about 2 weeks now though and she still wont stand up. She moves around a little by using her beak and wing. Shes alert, not breathing hard, poop is somewhat solid, eating and drinking. I've been giving her farmers helper golden egg nuggets as a supplement to keep her healthy.

I dont see any visible breaks in the leg or foot and she can bend the lower half of her leg but it gets tense if I try to bend close to her hip and her leg shakes a little. I'm worried that it's already healing weird and it might be too late to heal it properly. I've also never done a brace or sling for something like this and dont know how to go about bracing something so close to the hip.

Any suggestions? She doesn't seem to be in pain and I'd hate to have to cull her. Shes in a wire crate separate from everyone but in the coop so they can all still see each other.

Has there been any swelling on her hip area?
I went and felt her. I couldn't feel any swelling or bones sticking out in weird spots. It's not hot, unusually or anything in the area or in her legs either. I noticed the foot that had the swelling, she has that leg tucked underneath and she has the other leg sticking out behind her. I wonder if she just maybe sprained both real bad? Or maybe shes alternating them now.

So I think she may have just sprained both legs really badly. She seems to have resolved it on her own. When I went to go put her in a chicken sling she had both legs tucked underneath her and had started to scoot around.

So since she was starting to get kind of depressed being cooped up at this point I took her out and let her be in the grass with the other chickens. She's been moving a few feet on her own and today she was standing and walking on her own, with a little limp. So chicken rehab worked I guess. I never really did figure out what it was exactly but she seems to be on the mend now and is doing well.
