Leg not broken, but not usable

There are a lot of posts and articles to read if you Google "amputating a chicken's leg." I would not do it without a vet's assistance because of the risk of bone infection, especially when not done under sterile conditions. Antibiotics would also be important to use, and most are not available without a prescription, especially in Canada. Whether you amputate or not, please update us on her condition later. Thank you. Unfortunately there is no vets that take care of chickens. I can get penicillin and that's about all

Update she's hunkered down eating and drinking, leg looks not great. Been trying to research, but can't find much. I know I have to go below the knee. I just am thinking of scalpel the knee joint, gauze it up and let her rest with asprin water and injection of penicillin

Ok it maybe fractured by her thing. How would I split the whole leg??? Here's how she holds it most times. She won't put pressure on it

You can try splinting it with vet wrap and padding, and something stiff such as popsicle sticks, but make sure that it is not too tight to cut off circulation.

Is her foot warmer than her other foot? Is there any swelling? I would definitely NOT amputate at this point, but that's just me. I would let her rest and see how she does. I had a pullet injure herself, I suspect jumping off the roost, and had abad limp. I isokated her for a few days and she improved. The first tine I let her out to free range, she injured it again running across the yard. I isolated her again for five days and now she is almost back to normal. Hops a little sonetimes when she runs, byt otherwise her limp is undetectable.

Yes and no. Its warmer than the rest, I have her on antibiotics, but she doesn't seem to excret he bowels right. Her back side is all wet. I have a bad feeling she may need to get put down. It was late Sunday night. I put her in a carrier to keep her from getting injured then into a large dog crate to see if she can "walk it off"
