Legs Bands

I wanted to leg band my chicks. Forgot about it.
#1 At what age should they have them put on(Adult-band).
#2 Where do I get them?

They are Silkies.

You can buy them at places like tractor supply or there are places on the web too. I have chicks that are banded now at 6 weeks. The issue s staying on top of them and making sure as they grow the bands are changed out.

Like a dog with a collar, you have to put bigger ones on as the mature.

Is notching permanent if I'd rather not band?

For my chicks just born, I either cut little strips of Velcro to wrap around their leg, or I ordered some size 4 spiral legs bands from Foy's Pigeons. Either has worked good for me. I use those spirals in different sizes until my silkies legs are big enough to put their colored/numbered legbands or their ABA legbands(permanent) on. Hope this helps!
