I am tossing and turning at night thinking how Im going to do this!
I need coops and runs for silkies, layers/meats, and Jersey Giants.

I want them right next to each other and am trying to figure something out where I dont have to build 100 doors!

I dont know if I want them off the ground.
I think I want them 5 - 6 foot tall. My fence is 5 foot tall and I will probly just run the same fencing for the runs.

Any Ideas, pictures...
Thanks

I built my coop about 24" off the ground. The chickens love to lay under it during the day to sleep, run under it for shelter if they hear a loud bird or owl or escape to it if the weather turns ugly, so the area under the coop is greatly used. My entire coop and run is completely covered with 1/2" hardware cloth, including the run roof. I wish I had made my coop wider and not so tall (8' on front side sloping down to 7' on back - 6' to 5' would have sufficed even though I'm tall). I spend more time in the run and that is 6' tall. Take a look at My Page. The book I have listed on it has a sketch of a larger multi-use coop - it's a fabulous book! Have fun! I'm already thinking I need to make another coop next year!

I am about 5'2" so I dont need much height.
I have a coop now that is about 3.5 foot off the ground and I hate it. When I try to get up my chickens for checking they all run under there and I dont exactly like going up under there with my rooster lookin like he wants to attack my face.
Its a little nerve racking.

But I do like it cause if it gets to raining hard here we get a river in my back yard and it washes on the run floor instead of in the coop. But Where I am planning on building the new coops is out of the flood zone.
