Hi there! I had a horse and a pony. My horse passed away and I thought that a handful of chickens would be great to keep the pony company. Well, pony could care less about the chickens and I am consumed by them! I built my coop from big pallets that I brought home from work and tore down. I bought a dozen eggs from the side of the road and incubated them. Unfortunately, I ended up with four roosters and two hens. I thought that maybe I wanted to get a dozen eggs from a different home and incubate three of them to hopefully replace the roosters that I had. Nope, ended up with two roosters and one hen.
I have since found all six roosters nice homes and I just picked up a four or five week old Sapphire gem to add to my barnyard mix hens. I love learning about these strange little creatures and they have brought me so much joy and stress equally, lol
