Lethargic Chick with Green Yellow runny poop

Hello,

I have a 5 month old chick that is not acting herself and hasn't been for about a week. She laid down in the dirt all day yesterday, but did roost with the others last night. Her poop is runny yellowish - I just took this picture 5 min ago.

She is drinking and eating a little but lethargic. They are on layer feed, have plenty of grass etc and treats / table scraps from us. We keep the coop pretty clean, plenty of clean water available.

Can anyone tell me what I should look for, where to start in helping this girl get better?

The pale yellow is not very normal, and sometimes can be from E.coli infection. It could also be egg yolk material. Has she laid any eggs yet? I would probably start her on some Corid (amprollium) in the water for 5 days in case she has coccidiosis. Then after a few days I would worm her with Valbazen or SafeGuard liquid goat wormer. If a vet locally could just examine a sample of her droppings, it might save some guess work.

Can you add corid in with antibiotic since I'm not sure what wrong with my week old chick. They have been on antibiotic because one was sick and died and was told to give them antibiotic but now another is sick.

Can you describe the symptoms you have been seeing, and where the chicks came from. Are your chicks on the ground (dirt) or kept in a brooder? Many people have used antibiotics with Corid without a problem, but I prefer to tell people to use one medication at a time. Coccidiosis is rare at a week old, and usually is seen after 2-3 weeks when chicks have been exposed to older chicks, or on the dirt or in coops where other chickens have lived.

I don't know if she has laid yet as I have not separated her from the rest. Is that something I should do? She perks up around the others so I am a little reluctant to separate her.
I did check her to see if she was egg bound and I did not feel anything. I have not wormed the flock yet. There was a soft shelled egg on the poop board this week that may have been hers, but I am not sure.

She went in the coop with the rest tonight and hopped on the roost on her own so has a little energy still. I will see if i can get some Corid tomorrow and get it started.

Thank you for your help - I did take her to the vet and she tested positive for coccidosis. We started the flock on the Corid and she has perked up a good bit in the last day. I hope she will pull through this!

Do I need to change the corid daily? Is it ok to eat the eggs at this time?

Eggs are fine to eat while treating with Corid. And yes, change the Corid water daily. Mix smaller amounts if necessary. If chickens aren't drinking well, give a little undiluted Corid 1-2 drops twice a day, or use a dropper to give it to them. When they finish the treatment, give them some vitamins and probiotics for a week to replace the beneficial gut bacteria, and to replace vitamins. Good luck.
