Hi I have a brown shaver and for the last 3 days she has been really lethargic and is always closing her eyes. I have 3 hens n we live in town. Very new to the "chicken" thing, but she is soooo adorable. Tomorrow morning I will seperate her. I thought she was getting broody as my White gurl has. But I was sitting in there with her today and she is sooo tired. Shes trying to hold her head up but it keeps drooping. Her whddle thing or whatever they are is red still, and is leaning over a bit. I don't think she is eating or drinking. She had a wonder around yesterday with 1 eye closed but was quite dozey. But today I could tell something was up. While I was sitting there patting her she opened her eyes and then closed them again but continued to walk around in circles with her eyes closed 7 times.

Yea so tomorrow I will seperate her n go to the vet and see what products I can get for her. Never read up on illnesses and stuff when I got my gurls in feb this year. Clueless chicken gurl. Didn't even no about worming them etc.

They are well fed and spoilt chickys. Is there any sort of vitamins they should be having. N how ofter are you suppose to worm them?

Help!!!!!!! Any ideas on what might be wrong with her???????????????

If she's not eating or drinking, you need to get water and food into her ASAP! Do the water first with a syringe or spoon. Check her crop. Is it empty or full? Does it go down at all if it's full? She could have a blocked crop in which case it should be massaged and the stuff inside broken up so that she can digest it. I would take her into the house and keep a VERY close eye on her. Keep her warm and comfortable. Get her to the vet, if yours will treat chickens!
What kind of feed are they getting?
Hope she gets better! I'm praying for you and her; they can go downhill very fast!

Yea I went out today n brought some worming liquid, electrolyte, and some hi protein food.
Just gave her a bath, and her head kept drooping into the water cos she soooo lethargic, so she got some more liquid in her. Shes feeling very skinny as she hasn't been eating or drinking. Managed to get some liquid down her but she won't eat. Thought she could possibly be eggbound, had a feel around n all I could feel was bones I gather. I usually call all my gurls fatties, but shes definitely not fat anymore.
She still has her eyes closed, she only opens them when she gets a fright. Nostrils are clear.
Had a look around her butt n it was contracting every now n then. Haven't worked up the courage to get in there n have a feel around, was hoping my hubby would come home n do that lol. I went out n put her in her fave possy in the garden, its nice n warm out there n shes wet so.... I will bring her in soon.

They have alsorts of feed. Mash, maize, grains n seeds. And a pick from my garden everyday. Oh n household scraps.
She had a poop while she was inside n its dark green n pongy. Only a small 1 though.

???? O dear

Well shes still alive, no change tho. Is it cruel to keep this up. Fak I should just take her to the vet. Goh there goes another huge bill. Shes been like this for days tho. Is it worth it?? Maybe she needs anitbiotics, what do they give to chickens??
