hello, my name is Hailey, and I have this very sick two year old white leghorn hen. I have had chickens for two and a half years, and I currently own ten. I live in Illinois. she has been quarantined for the last couple of days, and my suspicion is she might be eggbound, but i'm not sure. her comb used to be a nice red and stick straight up, but now is dark purple and very flopped on her face. she is much worse today than yesterday. she did not eat anything today, but I force fed her some water through a dropper. any help would be appreciated, thank you.

can't do pic right now but i will try later. she is all huddled up in a crate lined with newspaper, i am keeping her inside to monitor her better.

she has already molted, and none of my other chickens seem to be sick. one had what i thought was the same thing, but then recovered, a couple of months ago. she has been wormed before. they all got ivormectin in early summer and that seemed to help the other sick chicken. but Orla is having trouble breathing i think, she often has her eyes closed, no sign of mites or lice.

A normal, healthy chicken should have a bright red comb. If the comb is a pale pink it can also be a sign of anemia (or molting, if there are feathers everywhere that is probably the cause of the pale comb). Anemia can be caused by a parasite infestation like mites, lice, worms.

she already molted this fall. the comb is very dark purple and she does not "buck" or make noise. she is not perky and does not react whatsoever when i approach or touch her. she has been sick for about 2 weeks, and has been very ill like this for 3 days. when she was with the others in the coop a while ago she did not walk around, she just stayed in the roosts or at the back of the coop.

I have no idea what's going on.

if she is egg bound is there anything i can do? if there is, how? i have researched but have not yet found symptoms that match. i probably can't take her to a vet.
