Lets all put our thinking caps on!!!!

We keep our ducks in a movable pen. We move them around our back yard throughout the day. I put a 2' round plastic sled in the pen for their water.

I always set it at a slight angle then fill it with a garden hose. When it is full I turn the water in the garden hose down to a dribble. I stick the hose through the holes in the chicken wire and let it dribble into the sled full of water.

Throughout the day it slowly overflows the water. When the ducks go into the water to play they stir it up and all the gunk flows over the side. It really keeps the water pretty clean!

An added benefit is that our grass gets watered pretty well too. We live in sand, so I would be watering anyway!

Well the best way to keep a duck waterer clean is by cleaning it often! Try to teach them to use a nipple waterer if you must but they are still going to need water to clean their eyes and bath water and that is going to need cleaning also. Thats why they afe called waterfoul I mean waterfowl
